We are used to thinking that harmony is when everything has come together: order at home, peace in the family, an even schedule. And when it has not come together — “disharmony”, and something must urgently be put back in its place. Let us start from the other end. Harmony is the mapping of everything to everything. Everything already corresponds to everything; there is no other way. If something seems inharmonious to you, it is not the world that has broken. It is you standing where you do not want to stand, and fitting explanations to it that themselves do not correspond to your state.
Watch how this works in life. There are people who create a comfortable atmosphere anywhere — you feel good beside them even in unpleasant places. That is not magic: they know how to transform their own energies to the energies of the space, consciously or unconsciously shifting the accents of attention. And the opposite happens: you arrive at a favourite place in a good mood — and an hour later you feel heavy. Everything is harmonious at that moment too — the potential has simply moved from one point to another, and that potential was you.
Harmony is an unconditional attitude toward yourself.
Not perfectionism and not balance
Harmony gets confused with two things. The first is perfectionism. But perfectionism grows out of non-acceptance: the perfectionist himself does not understand what he is striving for, because perfection has no limit. However evenly you lay two lines, magnify them endlessly and their edges will still turn out imperfect. Perfectionism is the wish to see all of God’s figures in a frozen event, while everything around is an unfinished arrangement of elements. Having invented an ideal, the perfectionist stops thinking; having reached it, he discovers that the ideal has become not a summit but a stage already passed.
The second is balance. They look like synonyms, but balance is a system of measurement, while harmony is a system of correspondence. Balance strives for compensation — for both pans of the scale to carry the same weight. Harmony needs no compensation: there is nothing in it left unaccepted, because everything is in any case harmonious relative to something in space. So there is no point balancing between processes of expressing truth — move down to smaller truths, which are already balanced.
If you claim it, correspond to it
Now the practice. Any disharmony — pain, anxiety, anger, rejection — always comes down to one thing: something is not being accepted. There is no single instruction for “how to bring yourself into harmony”; every case is individual, every second of a state has to be examined on its own. But the direction is one: analyse whether you can be in harmony with what you are claiming. To realise something, you must correspond to those energies, those frequencies, that time.
If you claim it — correspond to it.
How do you move yourself out of a point where you feel bad? Find inside what exactly you dislike — and change the potential to its opposite. Imagine yourself as a person who would like this situation. The brain will answer honestly: “But I am not that person.” Then ask it: “And what version of myself do I like?” You are standing at one point and see the situation from one angle; move to another — and a new awareness of the same thing arises. Look at yourself in the state of disharmony from the outside and ask: do I want to be here? If not — shift your attention, change the point, and track the sensation: are you comfortable in the new one. If you like yourself here, then this is where the new achievements begin — the ones that correspond to this state.
The awareness of harmony always gives a person spiritual growth. Not because the world became better — it has not changed. Because you have finally taken the place in it that you correspond to.
Balance measures. Harmony corresponds.
